After pickup up Titan comics Conan series, I’ve become a big fan of Jim Zub. Unbreakable Sonia is somewhat of a prequel to the Conan series. Jim Zub is a great writer and I can’t wait to explore this sword and sorcery series.

Finished issue 1. A very drunk Sonya stumbled through a city after a theif who has just stollen her coin purse. Final panels show us who this theif is. It’s a young Red Sonja!
ReplyDeleteIssue 2 opens with that same strange priestess trying to find the antiquim, Which she finally discovers. The story moves back to red Sonia and Little red Sonia. Another phantom appears and the two red Sonias have to make a speedy exit. Who or why Are sending you phantoms? We see a very touching scene as Young Sonia is carried away in Fear by mother Sonia. This is such a great issue as red Sonia has to tackle the fact that she has not been a mother until Now. On to issue three.

ReplyDeleteSonja and Sonja Jr. make it to Lhasiri only to find it taken over by religious fanatics - to Sonja’s surprise. My immediate thought is that Sonja may have travelled back in time. In issue 1, she meets her younger self. Now she is in a city that she should recognize; but doesn’t. Tendra is the goddess that is worshiped here. Our protagonist’s beat up some unexpected guards and sneak there way into the city to find a ritual. An “Unearthly Beast” is spawned and calls out Sonja who is in the crowd. The hunt is on. On to issue. 4
ReplyDeleteFinished the series. A very interesting ending for sure. I’ll probably give this entire series a reread next year. I enjoyed this one immensely.
